BIOGRAPHY

   Although Seattle is known as the home of Grunge, many forget the rich tradition for driving catchy pop. Not unlike The Fastbacks, The Model Rockets play high-octane power-pop, hooky, smokin, and always dressed to the nines.

   Unless you are from Seattle it’s unlikely that you remember Stumpy Joe, and even if you are, there’s still a good chance you never heard of them. In 1993, several members of that ill fated re-formed as the Model Rockets. Led by guitarist/lead vocalist John Ramberg, the Model Rockets released their debut album, Hilux, on Lucky Records, which was produced by ex-Young Fresh Fellow Scott McCaughey.

  In 1994, Hilux guitarist Grant Johnson was replaced by former Chemistry Set member Scott Sutherland. C/Z signed them in 1995 and the stunning Snatch It Back and Hold It was released in 1996.

  Scott has since been replaced my former ex-Kisser, Jeff Stone, and a subsequent record, Tell The Kids The Cops Are Here was released in 2002.

  The band is still kickin’, and while they are still largely unknown outside of the Northwest and Spain (they are treated like kings over there), the Model Rockets remain one of the most powerful and catchy bands that Seattle has to offer.
